Owen's birthday bash

We celebrated Owen's 3rd birthday Monday night 9-24-12 at Cypress Park....it's a favorite park of ours since there are trails all around perfect for riding bikes.  Our good friends and family came to celebrate his big day, he felt very special and loved!

Our friend Stephanie made another awesome creation....a race car cake, perfect for him!

We started singing happy birthday.....

and he got really shy and wasn't so sure about everyone singing and looking at him

But then he had some chocolate cake :-)

Our dear friend Dayna hanging with the birthday boy

Happy 3rd birthday Owen!

Owen is 3 today!!!!!!!  I can't believe it.......he's getting to be such a big boy!  We started the day with homemade french toast from daddy :-) which was a big hit!  We headed to church and then home for naps.  We ended the night with
pizza:-)  Owen got a garbage truck from mommy and daddy, he loves it!

We love you so much Owen Anthony.  You bring your family so much joy.  Your laugh is contagious and your smile is infectious.  Your preschool teacher said you are kind, obedient, fun and so sweet......I would have to agree with her (well sometimes we have to work on the obedient part :-) Happy 3rd birthday Owen!!!

Looking forward to your birthday party tomorrow night!!!!

Funny things from Owen and Emery

I have to document some things Emery and Owen have been saying lately so I can look back one day and remember how they were at this age.

EMERY:

Jason was watching a football game with the boys last night while I was at work and Emery saw a player's jersey with the number 44 on it, so Jason asks him "what number is that Emery?" and he says 44 daddy.  So another player comes along and the jersey says 22 and so Jason asks him again what number is on there and Emery replies "tooty two", HA!

Emery heard Jason call me a pregant lady one time so now every time Emery wants to be funny he will refer to me as the pregnant lady.  Saying goodbye to me at work, he waves "see you later pregnant lady, I love you".

Another lesson in remembering your kids are little sponges and repeat everything you say.....Emery was saying good night on the phone with me while I was at work and he says "thanks for bringing home the bacon mommy" :-)  I laughed so hard!

OWEN:

Owen's speech has really taken off in recent months.  There are some words he pronounces in his own unique way that are funny.
The other day he catches me getting dressed in my closet and says "you maked mommy" (translation: you are naked), and continues "I see your bum", ha!

Owen always makes comments about Jason's facial hair when he hasn't shaved on the weekend and will say "daddy, why you have pokies?" :-)

Owen loves to refer to Emery as "brother", but you have to hear him say it, I guess I will have to try to get more videos to put on here because it comes out "buther", so all day we can hear Owen saying "what you doing buther", "where are you buther", "come over here buther", "play with me buther".

Emery's BIG first day continued :-)

Like I said before, Emery rode to school with his friend Kendall.....and the plan was for him to ride the BIG school bus home.  I was a basket full of nerves.....wondering if he would get on the bus at all, and then thinking about how he would do once on the bus, it's about a 30 minute ride.  Here is Kendall and Emery when they got to school :-)  SO cute, I think he has his first crush!!!

So there I sat anxiouly awaiting his arrival at the entrance of our neighborhood......here he comes!

Getting closer....and my heart was beating out of my chest

Then I had to wait for the driver to go down and turn around and come back.....oh the suspense was killing me!

And he made it!  Check out the big girl getting off the bus....oh man, can't even begin to describe how surreal it was, wathcing my little 4 year old get off the bus with BIG kids.  I was super emotional.

This was the best.....Emery wanted to wave to his driver Monica as she left

I can't tell you how proud I am of Emery for achieving this big milestone.  He did so much better than I would have hoped for......way to go Emery, he's been asking when it is Thursday so he can go to school again and ride the bus :-)  YAY!!!!

I asked him what his favorite part of the day was and he said "the playground".  I asked him where he sat on the bus and he tells me "I sat in the back with the big kids mommy, because I'm 4 and I grow and I am big".  That was a little white lie, since I know they have the preschool kids sit right behind the driver :-)

Happy 17 months Jake!

Jake is 17 months old today!  He is really trying to say some words these days.  He says "awg" for dog, "ash" for trash, "uck" for truck, up, go, hot, mama, dada, hi and bye.  He takes one nap a day and usually it lasts about 3 hours.  He is getting very fiesty...and knows what he wants and when he wants it and boy if you take something away or his big brothers do, watch out!  He screams at the top of his lungs and throws a major tantrum.  I joke all the time and ask "where did my sweet little content baby go?", he is quite the character and has developed such a strong personality.  Jason and I were just saying last night, how did all 3 boys become so strong willed and stubborn?  I guess it's our parent karma :-)  but he really is such a sweet boy still and has his moments where he loves to cuddle and be a love.    It's hard to believe that he will be a BIG brother to his baby sister in less than 3 months!

Emery's 1st day at Pre-K

Emery's 1st day of Pre-K is today!  He will be going to the preschool up in Idaho City on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
8-3, a long day for a 4 year old, but I know he will thrive.  I am a nervous wreck today....just thinking of how he is doing and wondering if he will get on the bus home.  A friend of mine that lives close to us has a 5 year old daughter that is in his class that offered to drive him this morning, so that was great, but now hoping he gets on the bus home.

He was sure filled with excitement this morning.......he could barely contain himself :-)  Armed with his new batman backpack and lunchbag, he was ready to go! Jason drove him to my friend's house bright and early at 7:15.  We had a family prayer before they left and Jason and I shed some tears.

We are so proud of you Emery Quinn and the great little boy that you are.  We wish you the best and love you with all of our hearts.  When I picked up Owen from his preschool, he asked "where's brother mommy?", "when is he coming home?"......he misses him too!

Typical day around here

Just love this first one.....Jake teasing his oldest brother and Owen's face is priceless!

It's a Jake sandwich :-)

What is Owen doing in the one below?

New bikes....yep we got another bike over the weekend on Craigslist for Owen but Emery decided he wants to ride it and Owen is still loving his balance bike :-)  We scored this new bike for $10, can't beat that and even found a helmet for Mr. Owen's big nogen at a kids consignment place for $8, now that's a deal :-)

And Jake scored this cute thing on Craigslist for $5, he loves it!
