Happy 35th Jason!

Happy 35th Jason!  It was Jason's birthday yesterday.  We celebrated at home with homemade pizza.  I felt bad that I didn't do anything more elaborate but it's a bit tough with a newborn.  Hopefully I can make it up to him at a later date.

Taken before bed

Taken right when he got home from work....Owen loves his daddy!

Jason giving Jake a bath

We are all so blessed to have you J.  You are the best husband and father in the world!  You make us laugh everyday and give us sooo much love.  We appreciate all you do for our family!  WE LOVE YOU!

1st Bath of ALL the boys

From left to right.... Emery, Owen and Jake on both top and bottom.
See any comparisons?  Click on the collage and it will get bigger!

Matching pj's

These were taken last night....Emery really loves to hold Jake...he asks ALL the time.  It is really sweet to watch him interact with him.  Their conversation goes something like this....."It's ok Jake", "I love you Jake", "don't cry Jake", "I got you Jake".....it melts my heart.

Grandma Kim brought Emery some new pj's when she came out to visit and Owen already had these, pretty cute!  Now we just need to get Jake some :-)

Jake's first bath

Jake finally got to experience a REAL bath since it took 2 weeks for his umbilical cord to fall off.  Emery has been so funny, he says "Mommy, Jake has poop in his belly button", referring to his cord :-) and then cracks himself  up.  Jake really seemed to enjoy the warm water.

Happy 2 weeks Jake!

We got some newborn pics done on Saturday of Jake.....a friend from work did them for us....she is just getting started in her photography business and didn't charge us!  Here's one picture she sent me tonight.  I can't wait to see the rest.  Is he sweet or what?

Jake is 2 weeks old 4/25/11....I can't believe it.  I guess time flies when  you are sleep deprived and so in love with your son :-)  I am on my own tomorrow since Jason is back to work.....I sure hope I can manage 3 kiddos under 3 by myself!

Easter Part 2

Nana spoiled the boys with some great Easter baskets with fun toys!

We also took the opportunity to celebrate my mom and Jason's birthdays since they are both this week!

Great Grandma Oliver loves to hold Jake

Baby Jake's 1st Easter :-)

Happy Easter!

We have had a great Easter....we started with an egg hunt...the Easter bunny did an excellent job hiding LOTS of eggs for the boys.

Emery was so serious!

And Owen just got plain excited when he found an egg :-)

Our sad attempt at trying to get all of us together!

Precious boy & 1 week stats

This was taken this morning after his sponge bath.  He is so precious!

He had his 1 week appointment with his pediatrician today and here are his stats:

Weight: 8lbs 2 ounces (75th percentile.....He weighed 7lbs 3 ounces when he left the hospital 1 week ago today and his doc said he has gained as much weight as he possibly can!)
Height: 20 inches (50th percentile)
Head circumference: 14 1/2 (95th percentile)....which was very surprising, no really it was...we were thinking he wasn't going to follow in his brother's footsteps with a large head size but guess we were wrong!

Spending time with good friends

Our friends, Adam and Shaanti came over last night with their 3 boys and brought us dinner.  It was so nice to see them and let our boys play together.  Their baby Kade is 10 weeks old and Jake is 1 week and 2 days :-)

The boys

Emery loves his baby brother.  He really does ask all the time to hold him.  He is always concerned about where Jake is and what he is doing.  In this pic below, Emery kept saying" mommy, I don't want Jake to fall"....it was so cute.

This pic below was too funny.....Emery kept bringing Jake his cars and trucks...I love the look on Jake's face.

Jason has been great about taking Emery & Owen outside everyday.  Today was no different and the boys discovered the mound of dirt behind our second garage.  Don't mind Owen's pj's under his
snow bibs :-)  They had a blast out there, boys will be boys!!!

Mommy & Baby Jake

I am so in love with this baby.  He seems so tiny to me.  He is the sweetest, most precious baby.  I really can't get enough of him.  I love holding him close and he loves to fall asleep on my chest.  I want to treasure every minute because I know how fast he will grow.  The newborn phase is so short and before I know it, he will a big boy.

Jake's birth story

I wanted to share Jake's birth story.  On Sunday April 10th at 5:15 pm, I experienced my first contraction ever.  I had never had a contraction with Emery & Owen and their c-sections were scheduled as well due to the issue with my pelvis shape. So, this time around was no different, April 11th was the scheduled c-section date for Jake's arrival.  Jason's mom, Kim started writing down every contraction, it went something like this.....first one at 5:15pm, then 5:57, 6:49, 7:20, 8:19, 8:26, 8:52, and well then they got to be 20 minutes apart, then 15, then 10, then all of a sudden it was about 11:30pm and they were 5 minutes and I started to panic.  I woke Jason up and told him that I needed to call the hospital and ask about what we should do.  I had never been through labor before and I was so scared.  Jason was in a bit of denial at first, I mean this wasn't supposed to happen, we were both in denial....I was scheduled for a 6:00am c-section.  We called triage and they first told me to get in a warm bath and see if they calmed down, well by the time I got into the bathroom and Jason was running the bath water, they were 2 minutes apart.   We both started to panic and threw last minute items in the hospital bag. We told my mom who was downstairs on the couch and we left.

Now for the exciting part.....driving down the mountain at midnight with contractions 2 minutes apart and going over every pothole in the road.  Then speeding down Highway 21 with deer popping out on the sides of the road, it was really crazy!  I was in soooo much pain and it was the longest drive of my life.....40 minutes felt like an eternity!  We pulled up to the front of the hospital and left the car there and made our way up to the 2nd floor of labor & delivery.  They hooked me up to the monitor and saw that my contractions were still 2 minutes apart and the nurse says "wow, you are in a good labor pattern" and I wanted to say "No, really?", HA!.  They told me that they would call the doctor and see what they recommended to see if there was a chance I could wait until 6:00 am when my doctor could do the c-section.  Before I knew it, they were prepping me for surgery and said the baby wasn't tolerating the contractions too well and they needed to do it now.  It was pretty surreal.....being wheeled down to the OR after being there for almost 2 hours in excruciating pain, I was about to meet my son.  As soon as I got onto the operating table, my water broke and there was meconium which meant that baby had a bowel movement, which there was a concern that he could of swallowed some into his lungs.

The surgery began and he was born at 2:40am.  They checked him out quickly and his lungs were clear, which was a major relief!  He was a healthy 7 pounds, 10 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long.  He was perfect and beautiful.  It is difficult to put in words the feeling I had when I saw him for the first time...I mean, you carry this baby for 9 months and wonder what he will look like and if he will be healthy and then you see him for the first time and feel this instant love.  I feel truly grateful that he is healthy and that my Heavenly Father has given me the opportunity to be his mother.

Quality time with Grandma Kim

Emery & Owen have spent the week with Grandma Kim.  They have LOVED spending time with her.  It is going to be very hard for them when she leaves today.  She has done an awesome job and has
spoiled them :-)  It has been so nice having her here to help so that I can focus on baby Jake.  We will miss her sooo much!!!

The pics below were taken at the zoo when I was in the hospital

Thank you Kim for everything....you have been sooo wonderful!
