8 months old

This post is a day late-Emery Quinn was 8 months old on 1/29/09.

Here are a few fun facts about him:
He has 2 bottom teeth that have come in and are working their way through the gums
He will put just about anything in his mouth
He loves to eat frozen bananas in his mesh toy
He is a great eater and will eat whatever kind of fruits and veggies I give him
He is a happy boy and loves to smile big (we love how his little nose scrunches up)
He loves to be tickled, especially by his daddy!
He loves bath time and giggles every night & continues to scoot on his tummy backwards

I can't believe our little baby is 8 months old already. I guess time flies when you are having fun!!!! You are SO loved Emery!!!!

EQ is scooting backwards!!!!

Emery Quinn started scooting backwards tonight for the first time!!! I realized that I had put him on his tummy facing one way and came back to look and he was facing another direction and moving backwards!! You know what this means....my baby could be mobile soon, oh no, let the fun begin!!!! He has changed so much this week. Jason and I have been playing a peek-a-boo game with Emery and he loves it. He is trying to talk and says what sounds like "da da" everyday! He is so much more engaged with his toys and can entertain himself with them for a while.

Hip Hip Hooray!!!!

Just had to share that Emery has taken TWO long naps today!!! His morning nap was 1 1/2 hours and this afternoon was almost 2 hours!!!! Are we starting a new nap pattern? If so, I will be doing the happy dance :) I don't want to get my hopes up, he is probably going through a growth spurt!!

Jason, "The Baker"

So Jason has become quite the baker lately!! He is trying all different kinds of homemade bread. Today he made a Hungarian cinnamon swirl bread, called Kalacs. He let it rise for hours and baked it tonight. It is delicious!!!! Not very good for our diets, but a nice treat. I am very proud of my baking hubby :) We will have to do some extra workouts in the Huszar gym tomorrow!!!

He loves his truck

Emery loves his trucks! He will play on the floor for an hour at a time. We are pretty bias but could he get any cuter?????

Just some thoughts.....

I just wanted to journal some thoughts that have been on my mind lately. Motherhood is such an amazing journey and it is so rewarding. With that said, it is the hardest job I have ever had!!! There are so many questions that come up everyday. I was talking to my friend Amy this morning about all of the questions and thoughts that I am having. I was telling her that I don't know if I am doing the right thing sometimes with Emery, for example when he wakes up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason, the question is always "do I let him self soothe and try to go back to bed on his own (and let him cry which I am not good at)" or "do I rock him back to sleep (which I do)" or "do I feed him since he is probably hungry", As you can see I contemplate all of these things in the middle of the night :) I realized that it doesn't matter if I know all of the answers. She told me that I will know what is best for Emery (thanks Amy for always being there to talk to). Sometimes it can feel like I don't know what I am doing at all, can any of you relate??? I am just trying to figure out these as I go and do the best I can. That is all we can do, right?
Emery has been showing the signs of teething for months now and he doesn't have any teeth :) He has had a decreased appetite the last few days and has been up at night for no apparent reason. I have learned and poor Jason has witnessed that I don't function very well when I am sleep deprived. Well, I have been rambling long enough..... just wanted to share some thoughts. I know you mothers out there can relate.

Such a big boy!!!

He is such a big boy!!! Grandma Lynn and Great Grandma Helen got this rocking chair for Emery before he was born. I decided to let Emery try it out this morning. He loves it, he actually started to rock. It is amazing to watch him learn new things and discover this world. He has mastered sitting up. It seems like things will click overnight. He doesn't show any interest in crawling but like I have said before that is ok with me :)

I love you Emery Quinn, thank you for being you!!! You bring me so much joy, I can't imagine life without you. Your daddy and I talk about it all of the time, we can't remember what life was like before you (ok, well maybe we can, but it is much more meaningful now:)

The other night Jason gave Emery some water out of his glass and loved it so we decided to give him a sippy cup and he loved that too!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! This is our 1st post of 2009 and there are LOTS of pics! We did some shopping for Emery today as there were great sales. We purchased clothes for next winter and decided to get him some shoes (now if only he could walk!). Carlin decided to join us :)
